One beautiful sunny morning, we all decided to go for a swim before school. It was really hot and Peter had brought his mask and snorkel down to the water for us all to use. It really was shaping up to be a fantastic day. Jort and Peter laughed at the fact that their friends would at that minute be in class, and that they were so lucky to be here in Guatemala, at this beautiful place on this beautiful day. Peter went out snorkelling beyond some reeds and grass where we couldn't see him, suddenly we heard a passing boat hit something, and then Peter yelling for help. We got him out of the water with help from the driver of the boat and onto the dock where we thought he only had a broken arm. Once we got him to the doctor, we realized he was having a lot of trouble breathing. Our resussitation attempts failed. Peter died of internal injuries and trauma. Jort and I spent a gruelling 3-4 days getting him back to his family in Holland. I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone in Holland (Peter and Jort's family and friends, my friends) who made me feel welcome and as comfortable as possible. I have bonds in Holland now that can never be broken. Thank you. ![peter.jpg](https://alison00.tripod.com//sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/kissw.gif)
